I recently saw a report about long term care that got me thinking about how I feel about the subject. I do not want to be a burden on anybody, especially my kids. I talk from experience as I was a caretaker for my mom, and while I did not mind taking care of her when she could no longer care for herself, I saw the toll that it took on other caregivers and the disruption it causes in their lives. Anyway back to the report I was mentioning. A study that was done by The Alliance for Health Reform and Age Wave/Harris Interactive reported that 37% of us think they will need long term care of some sort, but in actuality, 69% of us will eventually need some sort of assistance.
With the cost of long term care being so expensive, whether at home or in an assisted living facility, what are your thoughts around artificial intelligence – robots taking care of us in our old age? It sounds a little far-fetched doesn’t it? Or does it? As the aging population grows, and if we can’t take care of ourselves, there is the potential that there won’t be enough humans to take care of us. We will need some help and that is where artificial intelligence enters the picture. What if a robot made the difference between you going to a facility or aging in place? Let me know want you think?
Until next time, Dan
